fast fodder / triptych to-go (2008)

I created this group of pieces in response to the Reinventing the Wheel concept. Considering the number of meals Americans eat in their cars, I hoped to open a dialogue about why we've reinvented our dining areas in this way.

The centerpiece is built from an old dining table top hung from the ceiling, perpendicular to the wall. The surfaces are plastered with McDonalds cheeseburger wrappers, corn meal, corn kernels and special aioli sauce (a homemade acrylic pigment). The tank is representative of the common SUV, or modern dining room while the intensive use of corn products reminds us that most grocery store food is simply corn when we remove the cloak of marketing.
